The Freedom and Opportunity Party (FOP) acknowledges that the high unemployment rate, particularly among young people. This is a persistent challenge hindering Kenya's progress and a source of frustration for countless citizens. The party recognizes that many Kenyans are eager to contribute to social and economic development but are held back by systemic obstacles. To address this, the FOP offers a decisive path forward by championing a system of "Capitalism with a Human Face" which it believes will serve as a dynamic engine for widespread prosperity by creating wealth and opportunity for all Kenyans.

The FOP's plan to "Create Employment and Put Kenya to Work" involves expanding public and social employment programs to sustain 12 million job opportunities which will deliver public goods and services to communities. The party also plans to forge strategic partnerships with the private sector by offering targeted incentives to drive job creation and safeguard existing jobs. Additionally, the FOP intends to build a robust support system for small enterprises in villages and towns, providing streamlined regulations and capital access with the goal of creating four million jobs, with a priority on women, youth and PWDs. The party will prioritise labor-intensive industrial sectors and cultivate partnerships to expand domestic industries with the potential to create sustainable jobs in areas like mining, agriculture, energy, manufacturing and the digital economy.

To specifically address the crisis of youth unemployment, the FOP plans to create more opportunities for young people by first, recognising their vital role in shaping the democratic order and involving them via:

  • Establishing the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention (PYEI) and Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES).
  • Expanding public and social employment programs to create and sustain up to 12 million jobs.
  • Forging strategic Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to drive job creation.
  • Building a strong support system for small enterprises (SMEs) to create four million jobs.
  • Prioritizing labor-intensive industrial sectors including investing SEZs, industrial parks, FTZs and EPZs for job creation.
  • Cultivating partnerships to expand domestic industries like mining, agriculture, energy, manufacturing and digital economy.
  • Expanding and institutionalizing the National Youth Service in partnership with the private sector.
  • Providing work-based learning, artisan training, and entrepreneurship programs with priority given to young people.
